Wadi Rum​

The Wadi Rum, meaning  "The Valley of the Moon," is a protected Jordanian valley featuring sand varying in color from light tan to brick red and narrow canyons that cut deep into the huge granite and sandstone mountains. Whoever has had the privilege to experience Wadi Rum will concur that it is a journey into another world, where the orange desert sand contrasts with cliffs of weathered brown stone creating a unique desert scenery of breathtaking beauty. 

 

In these paintings I have enjoyed playing with the golden and copper colors, and mixing sand collected during my visits to Wadi Rum. I tried to convey the special silence of the desert where you feel the moonlike landscape surrounds you, lit by a sunset like no other.
