AQABA​

Aqaba, the port city of Jordan, is a tourist attraction for its notable dive sites, coral reefs, and luxurious hotels.

From a young age, I have always been attracted to the water and oceans in particular. It is the colors, smells, sounds, and even chaos of the water that has been a huge inspiration for my paintings. I love to experiment with different materials in my paintings and I am particularly drawn to the contrast of rough sand against the smooth transparency of resin. I use different techniques from traditional knife painting techniques to paint pouring patterns to convey the fluidity of the waters. Inspired by aerial pictures of the Gulf of Aqaba and the nearby Straits of Tiran, I am mesmerized by the multiple layers of blues that interlock in the banks of the shores and reefs luring me deep into the image.
